1. Intro

This simple milter filters messages thru Kaspersky Antivirus Daemon (either
avpdaemon 3.x, kavdaemon 4.x or aveserver 5.x).

WARNING: milter won't "cure" infected messages. Instead, it will pass
infected messages silently if you don't specify to reject or to discard
them (see "Usage" section below).

NOTE: Kaspersky Antivirus Daemon < 4.5 uses "old" client-to-server protocol
so you should explicitly specify protocol in the milter's command line when
using it with "old" daemon (see "Usage" section below).

Milter was written on FreeBSD 4.9 and tested on FreeBSD 4.9, FreeBSD 3.2
and FreeBSD 2.2.8. I didn't try to make it work on Linux or any other platform
so it's up to you. Anyway, patches are welcome.

2. Compile

> tar zxf avemilter-xxx.tgz
> cd avemilter-xxx
> make

Note you need libmilter have to be installed on your system. If compilation
fails, try to play with LIBS, CFLAGS, LDFLAGS and DEFINES in Makefile.

3. Install

> su
> cd /path/to/avemilter-xxx
> make install

It will install avemilter binary to /usr/local/libexec and avemilter.sh.sample
to /usr/local/etc/rc.d. If you wanna start milter on system startup, you
should rename avemilter.sh.sample to avemilter.sh and edit it to suit your
needs. You also have to create avemilter spool directory (or just specify
/tmp as spool directory in avemilter.sh). And, of course, don't forget to
modify your sendmail configuration file to make sendmail to use new milter.
Best way to do this is to insert following line to your sendmail m4
configuration file (say, sendmail.mc) and then re-create .cf file:

INPUT_MAIL_FILTER(`avemilter',
	`S=inet:3360@127.0.0.1,T=C:30s;S:5m;R:15m;E:1h')dnl

4. Usage

Milter prints out short usage information when called without parameters.
